Candice Gizewski, MA, BCBA
Candice Gizewski has been working with children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder for the past 12 years. She began her career in the field working as a behavioral therapist and went on to study special education at the University of St. Francis. She received a bachelor’s degree in special education in 2003.
While working as a special education teacher, Candice went on to study Applied Behavior Analysis at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She completed her Master’s Thesis on the use of feedback given to paraeducators in the form of instructional and in-situ training to increase contrived learning opportunities in the natural environment. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis in May of 2008.
Since becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Candice has begun working as an independent provider of applied behavior analysis services for children with autism. She currently runs in-home programming for children ages 2-17 focusing on increasing appropriate behaviors such as communication, social, academic, and self-help skills and reducing inappropriate behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, and maladaptive vocal behaviors. Candice works with the family to develop goals and programming that are designed specifically for each child. She provides direct service as well as supervision and training to both the family as well as other paraprofessionals that work with the child. Candice also collaborates and provides consultation with the child's educational team within the school system.
In 2010 Candice founded Behavioral Perspective Inc. Since then the company has grown to service over 60 individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABLE Academy is an extension of Candice's passion of maximizing potential for children with developmental disabilities. Her vision is that ABLE Academy will provide an alternative option for children who may need a more individualized school placement in order to reach that goal.
